In Loving Memory of Mrs. Uma Sharma Mrs. Uma Sharma, born on October 20, 1940, in Mavai, India, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 84. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Uma was known for her warmth, generosity, and open heart, which touched the lives of countless family members and friends. Her first moment with her husband, Hari, was on a hot sunny day after their wedding, riding in a car on the way to Girdharpur in India, when he gently asked if she would like a Coca-Cola—a small gesture that began a lifetime of love. It was also the very first time when Hari saw his new bride, Uma. Uma brought tremendous luck and strength to her husband’s journey. Shortly after their marriage, Hari had the opportunity to advance his career and migrated to the US. In 1973, Uma courageously followed him to the United States with their four young children. Though she had only elementary education in India and spoke no English, Uma faced every challenge with determination. She learned the language, earned her driver’s license, began working, and successfully raised her children—ensuring each of them achieved a master’s degree. Together, Uma and Hari built a life anchored in love, resilience, and tradition. Married for 66 years, they created a lasting legacy of family and unity. Uma was the steady pillar of strength for her family, especially during times of deep sorrow. In December 2002, after the passing of their only son, Sanjiv, Uma dedicated herself to the care of her six-month-old grandson, Shiv. Through her unwavering love and guidance, Shiv flourished. Today, he is a proud graduate of Boston University and has begun his professional career—fulfilling the promise Uma made to herself 23 years ago. A gifted cook and gracious host, Uma’s kitchen was a place of comfort and connection. Her home was always open, filled with delicious aromas and heartfelt conversations. Beyond her family, she supported countless friends in their transition to life in America and continued to uplift communities in her beloved India. Uma’s compassion, courage, and enduring love have left an indelible mark on everyone she touched. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A memorial service to honor her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110
