Ronald W. Sullivan

Lt. Col. Ronald W. Sullivan, US Army (retired), 74, died April 21, 2025, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Virginia. He was born on January 23, 1951, in Alexandria, Virginia and grew up in Springfield, Virginia. He graduated from Annandale High School in 1969 where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He continued his education at William and Mary on a football scholarship. In both high school and college, he not only played sports, but also took various leadership roles in school, church, and DeMolays. At William and Mary, he was an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity; joined ROTC, where his Army life began; graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration; and married his high school sweetheart, Vickie Park. Ron was commissioned on August 25, 1973, in the United States Army. For his first assignment his primary duty was leading a platoon in 1st Battalion 7th Infantry in Germany. Then he worked at various bases in hospital administration. After receiving his MBA from George Washington University, he was assigned to DOD to oversee the installation of technologies to military hospitals around the world. Ron received numerous meritorious service medals over the twenty years of active duty. From the beginning his wife, Vickie, supported him in all aspects of military life, including moving 20 times in 20 years. After retirement, in 1993 he began his corporate career with positions at EDS, SAIC, and PeopleSoft. His last career move was to InterSystems where he was Vice President/General Manager of the Federal Sector for 22 years. He enjoyed working with his team on developing and providing data management solutions for health care in the federal sector. He was very successful and highly respected in his field. Ron's family was extremely important to him. Over the years he coached his kids in soccer, baseball, and football. Always an avid fan at his children's games and activities, he then continued to attend his seven grandchildren's activities from lacrosse to soccer to dance. He shared his love of golf and the beach with family and friends. Ron was generous with his love, support, and advice for all those whose lives he touched. He was always there for you. In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, Vickie (Park) Sullivan, survivors include his three children, Stacie S. Mulholland and husband, Richard Mulholland of Fredericksburg; Todd Sullivan and wife, Shelly Sullivan of Culpeper; and Jodie C. Teates and husband, Ryan Teates of Culpeper; and his seven grandchildren who called him 'Bubba': Brooklynn Mulholland, Bryan Mulholland, Brayden Mulholland, Cameron Flores, Grant Sullivan, Colton Teates, and Autumn Teates. Also survived by a sister, Linda S. Berger and husband, Michael Berger and nephew, Robby Berger of Georgetown, Tx. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 4 at 2:45 PM at Evergreen Country Club, 15900 Berkeley Drive, Haymarket, VA 20169.
