Marcia Jannette Maroney

With the deepest of sorrow and in loving memory of our cherished wife, adored mother, dedicated grandmother, and caring sister- the family of Marcia J Maroney (80 of Manassas, VA) announce her peaceful passing the evening of March 3rd, 2024. Born July 5, 1943 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Salvatore and Lucille Montante, Marcia grew up surrounded by love and family that would shape the person that all would admire; Moving to Syracuse, NY when she was a young child, Marcia would very quickly meet James, the boy across the backyard, whom she would later marry in 1966. They would go on to travel the world together, living in exotic places and visiting locations most people would dream of going, even bringing their two daughters, AnnaMaria and Kathleen, into the world in Athens, Greece on one of their many overseas assignments. Becoming a mother was her greatest purpose in life instilling in her family the importance of loving each other, working hard, faith, devotion, and doing what is right all the time, even when no one was watching. She was the matriarch of a family she held together so closely and laid traditions that will carry on in all who will miss her tremendously. Her smile may be perhaps the thing they miss most- so stunning it lit up every room she entered (and the rooms surrounding). Marcia was a kind, caring, and giving woman who put the needs of her family above her own, filling everyone with laughter and joy; Strongly facing any challenge with courage and dignity, grace and elegance. She was and still is the source of inspiration to her entire family. Preceded in death just 4 short months ago by her daughter AnnaMaria, Marcia is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years James Maroney; her daughter and son in law Kathleen and Troy Roesti; her beloved grandchildren Tamara (Jeffrey) King, Rebecca (Travis) Bartee McCourt, with Skylar and Logan Roesti; and the light of her life, her proudest accomplishment, her 4 great grandchildren Parker and Nataleigh King and River and Lillian McCourt. Also left to grieve her loss are her sister MaryLou Rowand and her brothers Anthony (Bonnie) and Angelo (Marie) Montante; In addition to many nieces, nephews, and friends.
