Madeline Ferry

MADELINE HARDY FERRY born May 13, 1907 died Thursday, April 27, 2006. She was born and raised in Berwyn (College Park), Maryland. Madeline was one of nine children. Daniel Ferry born March 5, 1902, died May 10, 1987. Daniel was born in Donegal, Ireland and was one of 12 children. Married Daniel "Dan" Ferry on August 17, 1932. Three children were born of the marriage: Patricia Ferry Simmons, Kathleen Ferry Latimer and Madeline Danielle "Dannee" Ferry Biller (deceased). There were 7 grandchildren born: Christina, Richard, Daniel (deceased), Patty Ann, Kelly, Amanda and Nicole. In addition, there are 15 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter surviving. Madeline graduated from St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland and Towson State Teacher's College. She taught for many years in the one room schoolhouse in Berwyn Heights, Maryland. Madeline and Dan resided in Berwyn (College Park), Maryland from their marriage in 1932 until Dan's death in 1987. Madeline continued to reside in Berwyn until the next year. In 1988, she moved to Manassas, Virginia where she resided until 2004 when she moved to Burke Healthcare Center in Burke, Virginia. She was an avid bridge and poker player and continued to play with her many new and wonderful friends in Manassas for the 16 years she lived in Manassas. She loved to entertain and did so beautifully. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles which she continued until just before her death. She had a very healthy life and she was a very happy and contented person?loved by all, admired by all for her spirit and courage and the way she lived her life. She always said "Everything in moderation, accept change, never complain and accept people the way they are." She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Berwyn (College Park), Maryland from birth and until 1988 when she moved to Manassas, Virginia. Thereafter, she was a member of All Saints Catholic Church until her death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas, Virginia at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 3, 2006.
