Linda Anne Winship November 17, 1959 – July 14, 2026 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” Matthew 11:28-30 It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Linda Anne Winship, who entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2026. Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice that she is now whole, healed, and at peace in Heaven. Linda was born on November 17, 1959, on the U.S. Army Military Base in Okinawa, Japan, to Edward Stewart Bill and Catherine Campbell Bill. She lived a life devoted to her family, friends, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Kind, strong, loving, and selfless, Linda faced every challenge with courage and complete trust in God. To have known Linda was to know unconditional love. She gave freely of herself, offering encouragement, prayer, wisdom, and comfort to those around her. Her faith was not only something she believed; it was the way she lived. Linda built an accomplished 42-year career in government contracting, serving in leadership roles in contracts and pricing. As a Senior Director of Contracts and Pricing, she was known for her intelligence, integrity, professionalism, and work ethic. She contributed her expertise to Evaluation Research Corporation, Sherikon, Buccaneer, General Dynamics Information Technology, SDS Solutions, Tunnell Government Services, and her own company, Contract Point, Inc. She approached every challenge with excellence and determination, mentoring others, solving complex problems, and leading with confidence and compassion. Her colleagues became lifelong friends, and she was respected for the lasting impact she had on those around her. Linda’s greatest joy was her family. Her daughter was the greatest blessing of her life, and Linda devoted herself to creating a loving home and making sure those she loved always knew how much they meant to her. Her steadfast love, guidance, and faith leave a legacy that will continue for generations. Linda found joy in life’s simple, beautiful things: pink, lace, frills, jewelry, sparkle, perfume, flowers, hummingbirds, and the beach. She adored her dogs, Holly Grace and Shadow, and her grand-pups, Macy and Lexi. She made every gathering better with her famous queso, Saturday morning pancakes, and generous spirit. She loved steak, cheesecake, Rocky Road and Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream, and always kept a container of nuts nearby while she worked. Linda will be remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, generous heart, and gift for making everyone feel loved. Though our family wanted more time with her, we find comfort in knowing that our Heavenly Father called His faithful daughter home, where she now rests forever in the presence of the Lord. Linda is survived by her loving daughter, Christine Sproles, and son-in-law, Justin Sproles; her cherished in-laws, Toni and Ron Farthing; her beloved family by love, Jeff and Donna Sproles; her nieces and nephew; and many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Edward Stewart Bill; her mother, Catherine Campbell Bill; and her dear brother, Edward James Bill. A Celebration of Life honoring Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Park Valley Church, 4500 Waverly Farm Drive, Haymarket, Virginia 20169, with a reception immediately following the service. A Personal Message from Her Daughter Mom, I will miss you for the rest of my life. I will miss our daily calls, your hugs, our time together, and your presence on this side of Heaven. Your unconditional love, selfless sacrifice, unwavering support, and faith shaped my life, and I will forever thank God that He chose you to be my mom. I will think of you every time I see a hummingbird, I will make your queso for every gathering, I’ll try to perfect your pancakes, and I will put up the girly Christmas tree. I’ll tell my future children how much their Grandma loves them, sing to them like you sang to me, and pray the Lord’s Prayer with them every night. Most importantly, I will carry on your legacy of serving others and telling people about Jesus. I hope you always knew how deeply I love you and how much I looked up to you. You are my best friend, my confidant, my mentor, my guiding light, and my greatest blessing. Life will never be the same without you, but this is not goodbye; it’s simply, “I’ll see you later.” Our daily calls may look different now, but I’ll still talk to you every day until I get to hug you again in Heaven.
