Laurel Bertman Larison

Laurel Larison, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, July 9, 2026, after complications from a stroke from which she never recovered. Laurel was born in Washington, D.C. She graduated from high school and worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant, where she was known for her dedication, reliability, and caring nature. Laurel enjoyed crafting, writing poetry, traveling, and spending quiet evenings with her husband, Dave, watching her favorite television shows. She was an avid animal lover throughout her life and treasured the many birds, dogs, and cats she cared for over the years. Her beloved cat, Miss Emma Pickles, held a very special place in her heart. More than anything else, Laurel deeply loved her family. She was also deeply loved by her many friends, whose lives were enriched by her kindness, generosity, and genuine caring spirit. Her friendship was a gift to all who knew her, and she will be profoundly missed by both family and friends. She will be remembered for her loving heart, kindness, generosity, gentle spirit, sense of humor, strength, faith, and creativity. Her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved, creating lasting memories with family and friends, and always putting others before herself. Laurel was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Bertman and Flora Bertman; her brother, Bruce Bertman; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Propes. She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, David Larison; her sisters, Patty Emery (Mark Emery) and Jodi Holden; and her many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom will cherish her memory and carry her love with them always. Laurel’s warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for her family touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in the countless memories she gave us and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at The Manassas Church of the Brethren. The address is 10047 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place afterward at Cannon Branch Cemetery, at 9811 Godwin Drive, Manassas, VA 20110, followed by a luncheon at The Manassas Church of the Brethren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Laurel’s memory.
