Katherine Hockman

Katherine "Susie" Hockman, age 33, passed away on Feb. 21, 2013 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. Susie was born on April 16, 1979 into the Hockman family as the youngest of 12. She grew up in a very loving, nurturing and thriving household in Manassas, Va. Her favorite hobbies were spending time with her family, swimming at Sudley Club, listening to music, watching her favorite movies and going to the Fair. Among her favorite things to do also included trips to Costco with Mom and sharing slices of pizza together; going to the Flower Gallery with Mom, visiting with Doug the owner, and enjoying a great cup of coffee there. Susie loved our family get-togethers and truly anticipated every holiday with a passion. She had a love for Jesus, Mother Mary and the Angels. Susie loved all animals and especially dogs; most of all our family dog 'Cutie.' She enjoyed being outside, spending time at the lake and being in the water. Susie had a tremendous love for life. She would always welcome us with a big hug and a beautiful smile. Anyone who knew her or spent time with her would be touched forever by her pure spirit, her passion and her joyfulness. Once she was your friend, she was your friend forever. Susie loved spending time with Ernestine who was one of her caretakers. They shared many special times together. She also shared many wonderful experiences with friends and other caretakers from her group home. Often, Susie would make the most profound, funny and cutest comments out of the blue. She had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. It was truly a joy to be around her. Susie will always be remembered by our family & friends as a pure gift of love and sweetness from God to each of us. Preceded in death by her father: Joseph Hockman, brother: Tommy Hockman and Aunt: Susie Copeland. She is survived by her mother: Katherine "Kay" Hockman; 10 siblings: Theresa Allen, Joe Hockman, Lorrie Pomponio husband Mark, Judy Rector husband Chuck, Melinda Patrick, Michael Hockman, Debbie Hockman, GailAnn Boyd, Danny Hockman wife Rana and Kimberly Goldsmith husband Chris, 24 nieces and nephews and 3 great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Mon., Feb. 25, from 2-4 PM where a rosary will be said at 3:30 PM and 7-9 PM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tues., Feb. 26, at 12:30 PM at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Rd, Manassas, VA with Rev. Robert C. Cilinski officiating.
