Helen Lorraine Doores

Helen Lorraine Doores, of Manassas VA, passed away at her home early Thanksgiving morning surrounded by loved ones holding her daughter Yvonne’s hand. She is survived by her daughter Yvonne Blevins and companion Mike Seyedan of Manassas, VA; son William Doores and wife Rose of Warrenton, VA; grandsons James Blevins of Fairfax, VA, Johnny Doores of Moneterey, VA; and granddaughter Cathy Jennings and husband Kristian of Monterey. She is also survived by great grandsons Jax and Baxter Blevins of Fairfax, many nieces, great nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Bootie Doores. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Ray Robinson, Mary Robinson, Douglas Robinson, Bea Grisham, Conway Robinson, George Kane, and Edna Weir. Helen retired from Fairfax County Schools after driving school buses for 24 years. After retirement in 2002, she designed and custom built a home in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. She moved back to Manassas five years ago to live with Yvonne when her health was failing. She loved her many flower beds and her vegetable garden. She was known for her love of animals, especially dogs and cats. She spent many hours sitting on her sunroom watching “her bird and rabbit friends.” She devoted 25 years of her life taking care of her brother George who had Downs Syndrome. She loved camping and once converted a school bus to a tiny house and traveled to many campgrounds through the years. She loved to dance when she was young and sometimes would go dancing 5 nights a week with her husband Harold. She loved her church families, and she was an active member of the United Methodist Women at Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon, VA. She was a member of Midland UMC of Midland, VA and attended Fields UMC in Shenandoah, Virginia until her health started to fail. She was a wonderful seamstress and she loved to bake. If you stopped by her home, she insisted on feeding you a meal. There will be a viewing on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 10:30am until 12:00pm at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA 20110. A Memorial Service will then be held at 12 noon with burial immediately following at Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Hwy., Manassas, VA 20109.
