Gloria Jean West

Gloria Jean (Green) West, affectionately known as Mom, Jeanie, or Granny, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by her family and loved ones in Manassas, Virginia. Gloria was born on April 11, 1946, in Baileysville, West Virginia, to James Fred Green and Inez May Alley. In 1962, she moved to Manassas with her husband, Mack, where they began raising their family. After dedicating herself to raising her children, Gloria entered the workforce, first as an Administrative Assistant with EG&G and later as a supervisor with the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice. Gloria found joy in the simple things that made life special. She loved a good yard sale—both having them and going to them—and enjoyed shopping trips with her girls. She also enjoyed bowling and times spent in the bowling leagues. She treasured family camping trips on the Shenandoah River and summer vacations to Tom’s Cove Park on Chincoteague Island. She enjoyed gardening, watching true crime shows, and was an avid collector of family photographs. But above all, Gloria loved her family. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in being a loving Granny. She especially enjoyed caring for Bailey, her beloved Bichon Frise. She was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and had a deep love of music. “Country Roads” had a special meaning to her, and she especially loved a good dance—even if it was right there in the living room on the hardwood floor. Gloria leaves behind a beautiful family who will carry her memory and the love she gave them for generations to come. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Noreen West-Poague and her husband, David, and Kimberly Kay Farmer; her two grandchildren, Courtney Farmer and Donald Farmer III, and Cynthia Benitez; and her three great-grandchildren, Gianluca Farmer, Alex Rivas Jr., and Giuliana Farmer. She is also survived by her sister Linda Hatfield and lifelong friend Trish Hatfield and her husband Junior. Cousin Donna Faye Lester, nieces and nephews which held a special place in her heart. Also, her beloved partner of 19 years, Ronald Link. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Dorothy Miller (Raymond), Helen Toler (Wirtie), Mary Ruffin (Thomas), and her twin sister Shirley Hatfield (Roger); her brothers James Green (Edna) and Jack Green (Helen); and her former husband, Mack West. Gloria will be remembered for her love of family, her generosity, her sense of fun, and the many everyday moments that made her presence so special. Her love will live on through the family she cherished so deeply and the memories they will hold in their hearts. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9606 Center Street, Manassas, VA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memorial Gardens, Manassas, VA. Rest peacefully, Jeanie.
