Frank Joseph Sliko Jr

Frank Joseph Sliko Jr. Died on Saturday June 20, 2015 and will join our LORD GOD, and his departed relatives. Frank was preceded in death by his Father Frank J. "Funchie" Sliko Sr, on November 10, 1996, and his Mother Mary Elizabeth "Petro" Sliko on December 28, 1998. Frank was a 6 + year United States Navy Veteran, and served aboard the United States of America Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE - CV 62. He was a Data Systems Technician, and worked on the Nuclear Weapons Firing Computer Systems on the Nuclear Trident Submarines (UYK 7). He attained the Rank of E-6 in the United States Navy, and was Honorably Discharged before Christmas 1979 right before the Iran/Iraq war started. My brother Bob and I are VERY PROUD to say that he did the work of 3 men. His work record with LOCKHEED MARTIN backs this up completely. Frank saw the world with the United States Navy. Our family had a very strong work ethic, and Franks work speaks for itself. Our Dad was a World War II Veteran who served in the European Theater under General George S. Patton in the 2nd Armored Division "HELL ON WHEELS". He was in the Tanks, and on a Half-Track named "THE BABY SKIPPER." He was involved in the Ardennes Forest, Battle of the Bulge, Central Europe, Normandy Invasion, Northern Europe, and Sicily from 1941 - 1945. Frank followed in Dad’s footsteps, and decided to serve the United States of America Military. Frank used to say "it’s not just the NAVY - it’s an adventure." Frank made his mark in the world with his relentless work ethic, and loyalty to his country THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Frank was preceded in death by 1st Cousin Preston J. Sliko, 1st Cousin Vincent "Jan" Muchinsky, and 1st Cousin Stanley A. "Stush" Sliko Jr., who was a Vietnam Veteran. Surviving members of Frank’s family include his 2nd oldest brother Thomas Hilary Sliko, and his twin daughters Danielle Elizabeth Sliko, and Donelle Ann Sliko. Danielle and Donelle are Severely Autistic and Mentally Retarded, and just turned 20 years old on January 31, 2015. Frank had an undying SPECIAL LOVE for his Mentally Challenged nieces, and was very helpful to his brother Tom in so many ways. Frank is also survived by his youngest brother Robert Alan Sliko Sr., sister in law Judith Ann Sliko, and special nephews Robert "Bobby" Sliko Jr., and his younger brother Matthew Frank Sliko. Frank LOVED his brother Bob’s family, no words can express his HAPPINESS, and PROUDNESS of his nephews. Frank was known to many as a gruff type of military man, but he melted around his special nieces and nephews. Frank had numerous family, friends, and longtime neighbors in the South Fork, PA area. Frank is survived by his 1st cousin David Joseph Sliko, who was a Vietnam Veteran. Frank is also survived my numerous 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th cousins, and their families from Sun City, TEXAS to PENNSYLVANIA. All of Frank’s relatives are originally from Pennsylvania. The above mentioned cousins are SPECIAL to us, because they were MILITARY VETERANS. Frank had numerous friends in the Manassas, VA area that he called his 2nd home. Many were United States Navy Seals, both active duty and retired. Bob and I would like to extend our THANKS to all of you for your loyal friendship, kindness, and being BROTHERS from different MOTHERS to our brother Frank. Frank spoke of ALL of you often, and Bob and I are indebted to you for life for being Franks friends. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am Monday, June 29, 2015 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA where memorial services will be held at 11:00am with Rev.
