Elsie Lee Shrewsbury (Bishop) 1928-2025 Elsie Lee Shrewsbury (Bishop), 96, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, in Bealeton, Virginia. Born on August 18, 1928, in Red Ash, Virginia, Elsie lived a life centered around faith, family, and service to others. On April 22, 1950, Elsie married Ted Shrewsbury, and together they built a loving home in Nokesville, Virginia, where they raised their four children. Their marriage was a testament to devotion until Ted's passing on May 24, 2006. Elsie is lovingly remembered by her children: Terry Shrewsbury of Nokesville, VA; Sandra Crawford (Ronnie) of Berryville, VA; Tom Shrewsbury (Kim) of Nokesville, VA; and Robin Kane (John) of Nokesville, VA. She was a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren: Travis Shrewsbury of Nokesville; Crystal Bentz (Grant) of McGaheysville, VA; Tracy Osborne (Phillip) of Nokesville; Brittany Maine (Daniel) of Mechanicsville, MD; Justin Falkenstein (Jennifer) of Stephens City, VA; Lauren Catts (Matthew) of Nokesville; Taylor Snead (Andrew) of Brightwood, VA; and Amber Kane (fiance Anthony Anzalone) of Amissville, VA. She also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Ted and her brothers Ronald and Harold Bishop. Faith was the cornerstone of Elsie's life. A devoted member of Greenwich Presbyterian Church, she dedicated countless hours to teaching Sunday School, volunteering at Vacation Bible School, and serving as the church's attendance keeper and offering counter. Elsie also had a heart for service beyond the church. She volunteered at the local "Clothes Closet" charity, participated in the church sewing circle to make quilts for those in need, and contributed to fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association. Above all else, Elsie found her greatest joy in being with her grandchildren, playing an instrumental role in their upbringing and instilling in them values of faith and compassion. Elsie's kindness and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire those she loved and served throughout her remarkable life. A visitation will be held on March 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Greenwich Presbyterian Church in Nokesville, Virginia (15305 Vint Hill Road). A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location. After the service, a lunch will be provided in the church's social hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenwich Presbyterian Church or Blue Ridge Christian Home in Bealeton, VA.
