Obituary for Our Beloved Irish Mother, Eileen Hanley With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Eileen Hanley, who peacefully left us on April 3, 2025, at the age of 86. A strong and beautiful Irish woman, her final moments were spent surrounded by her devoted daughters, Maureen, Doreen, and Christine, along with her niece, Margaret Rose. Eileen was a loving wife to her late husband, Timothy, and a nurturing mother who found immense joy in her children’s happiness. Their well-being was her top priority, and she showered her grandchildren, Alana and Kiera, with love, wisdom, and affection. She also maintained close relationships with all her nieces and nephews, staying connected with them throughout her life. Her life was a remarkable journey, epitomizing the American dream. An Irish immigrant from County Limerick, Eileen arrived in Connecticut in 1959 and worked diligently throughout her life, instilling a strong work ethic in her children. She shared her insights and wisdom until her final two weeks. As a successful businesswoman, she established thriving ventures in Fairfax, Reston, Centreville, and Middleburg, Virginia, since 1984. Eileen was a vibrant presence, admired for her charm, humor, and sharp business sense. Her passion for Irish music and dance was evident. She cherished her favorite cup of tea while enjoying various Irish melodies. Her son-in-law, tenor Michael, often serenaded her with classic songs like “Danny Boy,” “Fields of Athenry,” and “Limerick, You’re a Lady.” Music, dance, and all things Irish brought her immense joy, and her lively spirit, filled with countless stories, illuminated our lives with laughter. Eileen leaves behind a legacy of treasured memories that we will forever cherish. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her. Her daughters will navigate this deep sorrow as they mourn the loss of this vital figure in their lives. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy, and her siblings, Daniel, Kathleen, Patrick, Mary, and Bridget. She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins across Connecticut, New York, Illinois, Maine, Ireland, and Australia. A private Catholic Mass will be held for family only, and she will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery next to her late husband, Timothy Hanley.
