Diane Artzerounian Walker

Diane Artzerounian Walker, born March 10, 1949, in Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge, VA on Friday, February 20, 2026, after a difficult battle with cancer. Diane was a loving, caring, and thoughtful mother to Wesley (and daughter-in-law Nina), Kimberley (and son-in-law Robert Parsons), and Alexander, and grandmother to Madison, Taylor, Sydney, John, and Drayven. She was thrilled to be able to meet her first great-grandchild, Atlas (son of Madison), earlier this month. Diane was preceded in death by a loving and supportive husband, John Wesley Walker Jr. (1945-2018), and by her father, Higas Artzerounian, mother, Rose Semerjian, and step‑father, John Semerjian. She spoke often of her parents' strengths and weaknesses (as so many of us do), but even in her most critical moments, her love for them was evident. She is survived by her siblings, David Artzerounian (and wife Eva), Daniel Artzerounian (and wife Laurie), Donna Dolbashian (and husband Gary), and Denise Artzerounian who were a frequent source of joy, laughter, and tenderness throughout her life. Diane was a longtime member of Manassas Church of Christ, where her faith found expression in fellowship and service. She was eager to volunteer for the many activities, Bible studies, and ministries sponsored by the church, offering her time, energy, resources, and kindness wherever needed. Diane dedicated more than twenty-five years to caring for others as a nurse. She attended Gwynedd Mercy University and Lankenau Hospital School Of Nursing where she received her LPN license. She spent the majority of her career at Birmingham Green Senior Living Facility in Manassas, VA, where her enduring compassion steadfastly enhanced the level of care her patients received. No matter how difficult the situation, she sought silver linings as inspiration for patients, families, and caregivers. Her own childhood struggles shaped her in profound ways. Diane often reflected on those early experiences, and they fueled her lifelong commitment to promoting healthy, nurturing environments for children. She believed deeply in the importance of children's emotional well‑being, faith, education, and nutrition -- values she championed for every child she encountered. Diane had a way of making people feel like family and many would say she had a "heart of gold." Even after her cancer diagnosis in 2023, she continued to seek joy where she could find it. She was grateful for opportunities to travel to places including Switzerland, Spain, and Florida -- journeys that brought adventure and beautiful memories she cherished. A Memorial Service will be held at Manassas Church of Christ, 8110 Signal Hill Rd, Manassas, VA 20111, on Saturday, March 7. Doors will open at noon for a reception (refreshments will be served) followed by the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. A meal to honor her memory will be served at approximately 3:00 PM. Her remains will be laid to rest alongside those of her husband at Bright View Cemetery in Warrenton, VA on Sunday, March 8, in a private ceremony.
