Dawn Tyrell Stewart

Dawn Tyrell Stewart was born in New Orleans , LA to Joe and Tessie Ballard. She entered her eternal home on April 11, 2025, in Fairfax, VA. Dawn was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. She often quoted scripture and never ended a conversation without offering to pray. Her zest for life was not limited to prayer. She reveled in theatre and was infamous for quoting lines from Tombstone’s Doc Holiday and could deliver lines from the Grinch Who Stole Christmas better than the original cast! Although she was possibly the most uncoordinated dancer, she was always singing, dancing, and expressing her happiness and love of life. Dawn never met a stranger and went out of her way to feed anyone, and everyone, in her company. She was a culinary whiz known for her exceptional gumbo and extraordinary dressing! She always dressed with great style that rivaled the greatest fashion houses. Everything about Dawn was a colorful expression of joy. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her for the way her life was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Dawn is survived by her loving parents, Joe and Tessie Ballard, her beloved sons, Demetrius Stewart and Joshua Stewart, her sisters Taras Harrington (William) and Makyba Grant (Milton). Dawn was the cherished grandmother to DeVante Paige, Ty’esha Paige, Tatyana Stewart and Amiyah Stewart. Our Father Who art in Heaven hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil Amen. Dawn was an avid reader and learning enthusiast.
