Daniel Robert Frye

Daniel Robert Frye, 38, of Manassas Park, VA passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 7, 2025. Dan was born on July 16, 1986 in Fairfax, VA to Floyd Henry Frye and Debra (Garcia) Compton. Dan graduated high school from Manassas Park High School in 2005. Dan worked for SAIC as a Security Team Manager. He very much enjoyed his job and was dedicated to protecting National Security and providing support to his team. Outside of work, Dan was devoted to serving his community. He was a Life Member and served for 18 years as the President of the Yorkshire Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Board of Directors for the Manassas Veterans Day Parade (VETPAR) and served as the Sons Commander for the Post 10 American Legion in Manassas. Giving back to the community, especially to Veterans, was especially important to him. Dan received two awards from the President of the United States for his commitment to volunteer hours. Dan was also passionate about cooking but especially BBQ and served as Pitmaster with his side business, FryeDaddy BBQ. He loved spending hours over the smoker, coming up with new creations and sharing his food with friends and family. He had dreams of making it more than a hobby later in life with his son who loved to cook with him. Dan could walk into a room and become friends with anyone. He would talk to anyone that would talk back with him, find something in common and make a friend out of it. He loved to help wherever he could and would always be there for you in your time of need. He stood up for what was right regardless of what it cost him. Dan is survived by his son Colton Frye, 10, who was his entire world. Dan loved helping coach Colton's baseball team, taking him hunting and especially cooking with him. Colton recently beat his dad in a chili cook-off taking first place and making his dad so proud of him. Dan is also survived by his fiance Rebecca Knoch, his parents Chuck and Debra Compton, Henry and Debbie Frye, sisters Candace (Danian) Mohammed, Krista (Jad) Antoun and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 12:00pm at the Post 10 American Legion, 9950 Cockrell Road, Manassas VA. A celebration of life will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Yorkshire Volunteer Fire Department and/or the Post 10 American Legion in Manassas to continue with Dan's passion for serving his community.
