Zenella Ramona Radford

Zenella Ramona Radford, age 86, of Catharpin, VA, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Blueridge Christian Home in Bealeton, Va. She was born on July 9, 1935, in Antioch, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Truman Evers and Bernice Loreen Johnson. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Music from Bridgewater College in 1958. She was offered a job teaching 4th grade in Manassas, VA, and so she made the move there from Scherr, West Virginia, where she grew up. She met the love of her life, Paul, in Sunday School when he came to the Manassas Church of the Brethren and then married him there on August 5, 1962. She retired from teaching and became a homemaker after she had her first child. She gave piano lessons to her children and had other students as well. Zenella’s family has a rich tradition of music, and this was a theme throughout her life. She sang in the church choir, performing solos, duets, and even trios with her daughters. Zenella’s family used music as a way to connect with her during her last few years and it brought her delight. Survivors include two daughters, Ramona Renee Vaughn and husband Paul of Catharpin, VA, and Vanessa Kay Gotthardt and husband Craig of Manassas, VA; one son, Daniel Grady Radford and wife Chennon of Spotsylvania, Va; three grandchildren, Kayley Radford, Nathaniel Radford, and Makayla Gotthardt; two sisters, Loreen May, and Freeda Brown; and two brothers, Jared Johnson, and Elwood Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2022, at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA, with Pastor Mandy North officiating. Interment will follow at Cannon Branch Cemetery and a reception will be held at the church afterwards.
