Thomas Gerard Burson

September 9, 1963 - February 22, 2022

Thomas Gerard Burson, a long-time Northern Virginian and resident of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on February 22, 2022, at age 58. Born in Arlington, Virginia, in 1963, Tom attended Arlington County Public Schools, graduating from Yorktown High School. He then graduated from North Carolina State University and was awarded an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler Business School. Tom was a long-time management consultant, focused on advising corporate leadership and senior management in strategic sourcing, program management of large-scale IT initiatives, commercial wireless network deployment management, and supply chain strategy. Tom leaves a hole in the lives of many, most importantly his son William Thomas (“Willie”), whom Tom loved beyond all measure. Tom's greatest joy in life was being a father to Willie. Willie was Tom's favorite companion in traveling, hiking, exploring Civil War and other historic sites, going to Nats games, playing the guitar, and sharing their love of music. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Helen Egan Burson. Aside from Willie, he is survived by his five siblings: John (Erica), Robert (Sara), Bill, and Bert (Renée Soulliard) Burson, and Mary (John) Lawlor. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews: Nathan and Lizzie Burson; Martha (Paul) Bangiola and Hannah (Raphael Stern) and Joe Burson; Andrew and Peter Lawlor; and Sienna and Emilia Burson; one grandnephew (Peter Bangiola); and many cousins and friends. He will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, March 5, at 2 pm, outside, at Waveland Farm in Annapolis. Parking is across the street at the Church of Latter-Day Saints, 1875 Ritchie Highway, Annapolis. Flowers may be sent to 10 Waveland Farm Rd. Annapolis, MD 21409.
