Teresa Mary Hill
February 17, 1927 - February 11, 2022
Teresa Mary (Ploss) Hill, born in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 17, 1927, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Feb. 11, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Florence Ploss; husband, George Edward Hill; brothers, Frank and George Ploss; sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) and Carol Ploss; and son, George Raymond Hill. She is survived by her children Robert (Bob) Hill and wife Susan, Teresa (Terri) Comas and husband Tony, Kenneth (Ken) Hill and wife Dawn, Barbara Rust and husband Dennis, along with 10 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. Teresa was the matriarch of our family and beloved by all who knew her. She resided in New York until age 80, and then embarked on a relocation adventure to Virginia to be close to family who live there. Teresa learned to crochet at age 15, and it became a lifelong passion which she used to bring joy to others in the gifts she created. While in New York, she used her crafting talent to make lap blankets for injured soldiers at her local VA hospital and also made hats and scarves for children less fortunate in the Appalachian Mountains. After moving to Virginia, she continued using her crochet talent to make hats and teddy bears for newborns and children at her local hospital. It brought her great joy to know she was bringing a smile to someone's face with the items she made. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have fond memories they can remember and hold onto when they curl up under the blankets she crocheted for them. Teresa adored all animals and she was as drawn to them as they were to her. She was a collector of all things related to angels and had her collection displayed as a sign and reminder of her strong Catholic faith. Teresa enjoyed playing Bingo with friends and family, and with luck on her side, it seemed she won nearly as often as she played! She was also an avid reader and enjoyed an eclectic genre of books, movies and TV shows, including Sci-Fi, Horror, Hallmark Movies and HGTV. Teresa made no secret of her goal to live to age 100, but she was called home by Our Lord a little sooner than that, and just shy of her next birthday. Teresa's family will celebrate her life when they gather for her ceremony on what would have been her 95th birthday. She will be dearly missed by her family, and she will always be celebrated and remembered for the wonderful woman she was!
