Richard (Rich) Lee Herald

January 11, 1975 - February 4, 2022

Richard L Herald (Rich) a 25 year resident of Springfield, Virginia passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2022 at the age of 47 due to medical complications. Richard is survived by his wife, Judith Browder-Herald (Judy); his children, Andrew and Justin Herald; his Mother, Linda Gagne; and his brother, James Herald. He is predeceased by his Father, James R Herald; and his grandparents. Rich was born in Maryland on January 11, 1975 to James and Linda Herald. He graduated Woodbridge Senior High School in 1993 and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He married Judy, his wife of 28 years, in November 1993 and move to his first station, USCG Cutter Hamilton, in San Pedro, CA. During the summer of 1995 he attended MK and Federal Law Enforcement school in Yorktown, VA. Rich completed his military career at a small boat station in New Haven Connecticut where he served as a Machinery Technician and Boarding Officer. May 2006 Rich started his own mechanical service company Service Works, LLC. Rich was a devoted father and husband, an avid motocross (MX) rider, and loved the outdoors especially fishing. Rich enjoyed traveling to Mexico and to California where he would often ride on the professional MX tracks. Rich was extremely gifted in almost anything he set his mind to and exceled at troubleshooting. He found great joy in teaching and guiding others. He was a devoted Christian who felt it was important to share the gospel. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, employees and all who knew him. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on February 26 at Grace Life Community Church in Bristow. In lieu of flowers please send donations in honor of Rich’s love for God to Grace Life Community Church, 9560 Linton Hall Road, Bristow, VA 20136.
