Michael Joseph "Mike" Wagner

Michael Joseph “Mike” Wagner of Manassas, VA, 64, devoted husband, father, uncle, and brother, unexpectedly passed away on April 1st, 2024. Mike was predeceased by his mother and father, Patricia and Donald. He is survived by his siblings: Kathy, Michelle, Donna, and John; his wife and children: Deidre, Nicholas, Jessica, and Victoria; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends. Mike was born on October 5th 1959, to Donald James Wagner and Patricia Therese Pykosz Wagner in East Chicago, Indiana. After graduating from Oak Ridge High School in 1977, he went on to earn his Associates degree in Electronics at Roane State Community College in Tennessee. He traveled the entire globe while he served his country and mission during his notable 28-year career with the Central Intelligence Agency. He earned his reputation as an IT powerhouse that many deeply respected and could rely on. After his Agency retirement, Mike continued working for another 13 years for several companies. In 1990, he met Deidre Alphonso while in Guyana. After their wedding in September of 1992, they moved from Miami, FL to Manassas, VA where they had 3 children: Nicholas, Jessica, and Victoria. As a dedicated and loving husband and father, he committed his life to supporting and providing for his wife, his mother-in-law Rosaline, and children. He created a welcoming home for all of his and Deidre’s family, and a main hub for his children’s friends. From maintaining the house inside and out, to building an entire treehouse because his daughter mentioned once that she wanted one. Mike loved to stay active and keep himself busy. After spending an entire day at work, he would come home, change, and head out to the yard to work on his own personal projects. Mike was known as a man who always did what needed to be done. When he had an idea of what he wanted to happen, he would set out to do it until it was complete and to his standard (perfect). Words are not enough to summarize the life of Mike Wagner. He loved to play the same video game (Civilization III) for years, watch every TV show on Netflix and Hulu, enjoy caramel popcorn, and sip an ice-cold diet Dr. Pepper while sitting by his fire pit. Mike had a mellow soul that inspired everyone around him to be their best version. A conversation would not be over unless Mike had made you laugh or smile.
