Unfortunately, at 10:15 am that morning I learned that my eldest brother lost his battle with cancer. I cannot express the emotion that tremored through me, I only thank GOD that my wife Holly was with me when we received the call.
Anyone that knows me knows how incredibly proud I am of him. Because of our age difference his was like a second dad. And like a young brother would I missed him so much that he would fly me down to Washington so I can spend the weekends with him. One of those weekends, I had the pleasure of being the come-along on his first date with Joyce whom became his magnificent wife of almost 40 years. Years later he reciprocated when I asked my best friend Holly if she would like to met Mike. She had heard a lot about him and he was flying in to Miami for "work" and I thought it would great if we can meet up with him. That evening, Michael in private turned to me and said; "David you're going to marry Holly some day. I have never seen you so happy with anyone like that." He was right then and still after 32 years. He couldn't share his work due to the nature of what he did, all we knew is that he loved this country, so much that we work on behalf of us until his last day.
Seeing how proud his girls, Joyce, his wife, his daughters Jennifer and Sara were of him, knowing how well respected he was in Washington, and to see how he lit up a room when he walked in is a testament to his character. It was easy to see he had GOD on his shoulder guiding him along. Sunday and Monday we will be honoring him in Washington as a husband, a dad and a dedicated American who did give it all for the county he loved. Mike, I love you so much and will think of you each day. You loveing brother David
