Maureen T. Kerin

Maureen Therese Kerin (McDonough) passed into the loving arms of Jesus on December 19, 2023, at the age of 88. She died peacefully in her home in Bristow, VA, surrounded by her seven children. We were blessed by her life. She will be dearly missed by her children Linda (Lino) Laudiero of Manassas, VA, Eileen Curtin of Bristow, VA, Paul (Kate) Kerin of Sauk Centre, MN, Mark (Kathleen) Kerin of East Greenwich, RI, Beth Kerin of Bristow, VA, Michele Dominguez of Bristow, VA, and Marianne (Kevin) Kohlhaas of Nokesville, VA; and her grandchildren Anthony (Laura) Laudiero, Therese Kerin, Paul (Bianca) Laudiero, Sean (Kayla) Kerin, James (Claire) Kerin, Brendan Kerin, Anna Laudiero, Elizabeth (Christian) Liebenow, Patrick Kerin, Liam Curtin, Seamus Curtin, Meghan Kerin, John Dominguez, Michael Dominguez, Gabriel Kerin, Gus Kohlhaas, Sofia Kohlhaas, and Daniel Kohlhaas; and 11 great-grandchildren, Giulia, Luca and Marco Laudiero, Liam, Madden and Maeve Kerin, Louis and Avila Laudiero, Blaise and Leo Kerin, and Keane Kloskin. She is also survived by her brother Patrick McDonough. In addition to her beloved husband, Paul, she is also predeceased by her brother Jack McDonough and her sister Eileen McDonaugh. Maureen was born August 24, 1935, in Chicago, IL to Irish immigrants John and Eileen McDonaugh (Cawley). Theirs was a faith-filled, hardworking, and fun-loving family – traits Maureen carried with her throughout her life. She graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago, IL. Mom met Dad on spring break in Florida. As the story goes, Dad knocked on the door to pick up her friend for a date and Mom opened the door in curlers. The next day they talked for hours and prayed the rosary, launching life-long habits together. They were married on February 6, 1960, and were on their way! They started strong with two sets of Irish twins followed by the arrival of the “three reds.” The world has never been the same. Mom and Dad spent their early years in Westchester County, NY before moving to the Catskill Mountains, eventually settling in Jewett, where they forged a culture that will live on in family lore– complete with skiing, motorcycles, horses, tennis, and daily Mass. The Jewett years are cherished by us kids, and by countless guests Mom and Dad welcomed into their home. Steadfast love, friendship, and devotion defined their 57 years of marriage. Mom had a beautiful simplicity about her. We will forever miss her sporting spirit, affirming smile, and example of generous Christian Living. May she rest in the peace of Christ. The family will receive friends at Pierce Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will be on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:30 AM in Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Masses be said for the repose of Maureen or donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
