October 14, 1982 - April 17, 2021
With our deepest sorrow we announce that on Saturday April 17, 2021 Matthew Robert Ragan, 38 entered fully into the presence of the Lord. Matt was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, his church and his community. Matt was a beloved son, brother and father who passed suddenly at his birth home in Manassas, VA. Those who’s lives he touched already know the fun, loving, energetic and kind soul that he was and for those who didn’t, in the words of his beloved Zooz “ He was an exceptional man with an amazingly good heart and a father like no other.” Matt will be missed everyday by his father, Michael Ragan, his mother Ida Underwood Ragan, Grand Parents Ralph and Faye Heap, his children Dylan Ragan-Wiley, Tinley Ragan, Paisley Ragan, Brecken Ragan; his brother Andrew Ragan and his partner Alexandria Dixon; his sister Amy Holland and her husband Travis Holland; nephews Tyler Holthoff, Brayden Holland, niece Ragan Holland; brother John Ragan and his partner Christi Pittman, nephew Gavin Ragan and by numerous Aunts & Uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by paternal grandmother Louise Heap, maternal grandparents Robert and Catherine Underwood and uncle Mark Underwood. Matt loved soccer from the time he could walk and it remained part of his world from grade school thru college. He would later coach his own children’s teams as well as refereeing soccer and even administering the schedule for the county league. He cherished the outdoors, skiing, camping, water sports or just goofing off. Matthew received his Bachelors of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University graduated in Fire and Safety Technology and later completed his Masters of Engineering degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While it could never be said he was not the life of the party it was constantly evident that he was a self-driven individual both professionally and personally. His family and friends knew him as an outgoing, over the top, funny, hard working individual who never met a stranger. He was the first to help anyone in need; while never passing up an opportunity to make light of a situation. His silly and carefree demeanor never left a void in any conversation (even if it occasionally may have been less than appropriate). Matt was well known for his in-depth entertaining stories and extraordinarily wild adventures. Matt was an incredible light, not only did he own the room but the whole party with his infectious laughter, warm smile, tentative ear and free spirit. He cared, listened, worked, competed and loved with all of his heart. May the wonderful memories he blessed us with carry Matthew’s spirit when told through stories of the all the love he shared. Matt read the Bible daily and enjoyed quoting from his favorite scriptures. He talked constantly of his children and was constantly planning his next lives adventure with them and others. May the Lord bless him and keep him in his kingdom until our next meeting… Relatives and friends may call at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St. Manassas, VA on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 6 till 8:00 PM.
