Mary Arvetta Vires, 97, of Nokesville, Virginia, passed away on May 14, 2022. She was born on April 13, 1925 in Bandana, Kentucky, to Robert and Beulah Hughes. As a young lady she took her Civil Service Exam and headed East in search of employment opportunities where she eventually retired from the CIA. She was most happy on the farm surrounded by loved ones. Mary is survived by her children, Loretta M. Robinson of Nokesville, Virginia, Veronica J Kiser of Warrenton, Virginia, and Jeffrey L. Vires of Bristow, Virginia; Grandchildren Annette Marshall Gregory of Churchville, Virginia, Cindy Marshall, Loretta L Burke Bennett, Angela Marie Vires, James Aaron White, Jesse Lynn Vires, and Jasper Fitzgerald Vires; Many great and great-great grandchildren; and Sister, Earlene Hughes Sanders of Campbell, Missouri. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Beulah Hughes; Husband, Joe Vires, Sr.; Children, Cynthia Joyce Marshall and Joe Vires, Jr.; Grandchildren William T. Marshall, Jr., and James H Burke, Jr.; and Siblings, Edith Athelene (Jerry) Jennings Stroney, Pearline Hughes Robinson of Portageville, Missouri, and Robert A. Hughes of Sacramento, California. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Pierce Funeral Home Chapel (9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia 20110). Burial will follow at a later date, to be determined, in Portageville, Missouri, at the Portageville Cemetery on County Road 204.
