Mary Anna Smoot

Mary Anna Smoot, known as “Missie,” was born on March 31, 1984. She was born to Beverly Smoot and the late Bernard Grant in Warrenton, VA. Mary accepted Christ in her like at the Light of Light Church. Missie received her wings on January 17, 2022. Missie attended school in Prince William County, VA and graduated with honors from Military Academy. Missie spent most of her career as a dedicated, loving, and caring Home Health Nurse. She made it her point to make sure those she cared for were comfortable and happy. Missie was all about her nine children and one grandson. When you saw Missie, you saw her tribe, “Team 9” as she called them. Thomas Brown, Nevaeh Haley, Ricardo Haley, Amena Haley, Alayna VanDiver, Jymir VanDiver, Tarvell VanDiver, Aaron VanDiver, and Zariah VanDiver; as well as her only grandson, Messiah. Missie is also survived by her mother, Beverly Smoot; her siblings: Sisters Tanya Smoot, Roberta Smoot Harris (James Harris, Jr.), Natica Smoot, Shaykia Grant, Shykita Grant, Brittany Grant, Essence Hudson, and Camron Lewis; brothers Jonathan Payne, Jason Brown, and Amir Lewis; as well as a sleuth of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Missie is preceded in death by her father Bernard Grant III, her dad Merrill Mauney Sr., and her two favorite uncles, Thomas Smoot, and James “Squeaky” Grant. Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Saturday, January 28, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA 20110. Funeral services will then be held at 11:00 AM officiated by Pastor Tony Lewis. Repast and fellowship will immediately follow in the Reception Room of Pierce Funeral Home.
