Mary Elizabeth Howard

July 5, 1930 - March 26, 2022

Mary Elizabeth Howard (Harrison), “Betty”, age 91, a resident of Manassas, VA for 35 years, formerly from Fairfax, VA was born to the late Thomas and Mary Harrison, a farmer and housewife on July 5, 1930. She graduated from Washington Lee High School in 1948, then worked at the Pentagon as a bookkeeper for several years before becoming a mother/housewife of her children. She started working at First VA Bank in Falls Church, VA in 1974 as an account processor, where she retired after 25 years of service in 1999. She grew up in Vienna, VA, married on May 8, 1952 to the late Charles L. Howard, Sr. She was an avid bowler of both duck pins and ten pins. Betty loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cooking, baking, various types of puzzles, gardening, mowing “all” her lawns. She loved the outdoors, especially sitting on her porch reading, working crossword puzzles, or just talking with her neighbors. She was loved by so many. Preceded in death by her three brothers Johnny, Frank, and Tommy; two sisters Anna Mae and Eleanor. She is survived by her four children: daughter, Darlene L. Michael and husband Chuck; son, Charles L. Howard, Jr. and wife Natalie; son, Bruce D. Howard and wife Sonya; and daughter, Brenda Larkin and husband Mark. She has 10 grandchildren: Timothy, Shannen, Danny, Zachary, Jessie, Sarah, Holly, Brandy, Chris, and Tommy; and 13 great-grandchildren with three great-granddaughters soon to arrive. Family will receive friends from 2:00pm – 4:00pm, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110.
