Marie B. Boatwright

July 16, 1923 - March 27, 2021

Marie B. Boatwright, age 97, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2021, at Caton Merchant House in Manassas. Marie was born in Manassas on July 16, 1923 and was the youngest of three children born to the late Roy Clifton Bauserman and Ruth Fisher Bauserman. Marie was preceded in death by her two brothers, Warren Vernon (Bud) Bauserman and Charles Lemuel (Chic) Bauserman. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Garland Boatwright Sr., a son, Charles Warren Boatwright, and a daughter Rhonda Ree Hill. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Margie M. Boatwright (Richard). Marie is survived by her sons, Richard H. Boatwright and Stanley G. Boatwright, Jr. (Karen). Marie is survived by six grandchildren, Gregory Alexander Boatwright (Victoria), Catherine Anne (Boatwright) Kwak (Tim), Teresa Lynn Walker (Jeff), Melissa Hope Garland (Kevin), Kassidy K. Hill and Katie M. Hill, as well as six great grandchildren, Jaidan Jones, Sadie Marie Kwak, Ashleigh Nichole Walker, Lucas Skye Walker, Kelli Brooke Garland and Hailey Nicole Garland. Marie is also survived by very special nieces Jo Marie Duke (Marty) and Laura Muller (Matt) and their families. Marie was a 1940 graduate of Manassas High School and a 1944 graduate of Madison College (James Madison University), having majored in Music. Marie was a lifetime resident of Manassas, Virginia. She taught elementary school in both Fairfax and Prince William Counties for over twenty-seven years. She also taught piano, along with Virginia Carper, for over twenty years. Marie was the center of her immediate and extended family, providing care and emotional support for all who were in need. Throughout her life, Marie made friends easily and touched the lives of students, colleagues, friends, and many others in the Manassas Community. She loved people, and those who spent time in her company felt they were the center of her universe. Marie was active in Community organizations including the Junior Women’s Club and the Eastern Star, as well as the Virginia Retired Teachers Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Caton Merchant House for their loving care over the past ten years. The family will receive family and friends on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 1pm to 2pm at Grace United Metehodist Church, 9750 Wellington Rd. Manassas, Va. A funeral service will follow at 2pm with interment following immediately at the Manassas Cemetery.
