Joseph J. O’Donnell III

August 22, 1948 - March 6, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph J. O’Donnell, III announce his passing on March 6, 2022. Joe will be sadly missed. Joe was born in the Bronx, NY on August 22, 1948 along with his twin sister. His parents Joseph J. O’Donnell, II and Gladys Mills. He also had a younger sister. When he was a young boy the family moved to Long Island, NY where he attended Central Islip High School. While attending his senior year Joe’s father passed away and he became the man of the house. He worked many jobs to help support the family. Trains, trains, trains was his passion. He has built several Model RR layouts throughout is life and collected RR memorabilia. Painting was another passion. He sold more pictures than Vincent Van Gogh at his wife’s antique booth. Hiking, travelling, the Cosmos and writing were also Joe’s loves. He published two online magazines, The EERIE Digest and The Science and Nature Journal. He loved to tell stories about his life and jokes that were both corny and very funny. He was very proud of his Irish/Scottish heritage and extremely happy when he was able to visit his family castle in Donegal, Ireland. Joseph leaves to cherish his memories to his wife Maryann O’Donnell, his son Joseph O’Donnell IV, his daughter Jennifer Baird and her husband Matthew Baird, and his two grandchildren, Haven Holder and Liam Baird.
