Joan S. Sebesky of Manassas, VA passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021. Born March 3, 1945 to Lewis and Anna Grzesiak in Uniontown, PA, she attended Redstone High School and met the love of her life and husband, William P. Sebesky, Sr. She came to the Northern Virginia area and worked as secretary for the United States Information Service under the U.S. Department of State. Bill and Joan were married for 42 years before his passing in 2006. A caring wife, mother and grandmother, Joan was loved by all those who knew her and known for her infectious smile. She took great interest in her children’s sports teams and was a regular chaperone for school trips. Living on Salem Street for many years, Joan was a neighborhood Mom to all – her house and porch were always welcoming. She was also a softball wife, where Joan and Bill met some of the closest friends of their lives. Joan spent many years working for Prince William County schools as a beloved substitute teacher, her students still remembering her today. She also worked as a displayer for Home Interiors & Gifts where she shared her love for home decorating and crafting. Proud of her Polish heritage, Joan was a fabulous cook and baker, also well known for her cookies and specialties. Joan enjoyed and loved her friends from Beta Sigma Phi sorority and her bus trips. Grandchildren brought her the greatest joy, and she spent many years babysitting, attending sporting events, school plays, concerts and dance recitals. Joan is survived by her three children: William Jr. and wife Pamela (Emily and Joseph) of Manassas, daughter Michelle Dingeman and husband David (Amanda and Abby) of Manassas, and daughter Melissa Dame and husband Patrick of Port Charlotte, FL. Joan is also survived by her brother Anthony Grzesiak and wife Sharon of Riverdale, MD and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her brother Martin Grzesiak and wife Cora of IL and her granddaughter Lauren Rose. Her family finds great comfort that she has been reunited with her only love, Bill. Visitation services will be held Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 6 – 8 pm at Pierce Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 9609 Center St., Manassas with a Funeral mass at All Saints Roman Catholic Church on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 10 am with inurnment to follow at Stonewall Memorial Gardens. The family hopes you will join them afterward at the banquet hall at Pierce Funeral Home for lunch and to share your memories of Joan.
