Ida Livia Slattery

Livia - “full of life” Our darling mother, Ida Livia Slattery, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in our loving arms. Ida was born on September 26, 1928 in South River, NJ to the late Carmine and Catherine Donisi nee Christiano. Ida is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph E. Slattery and her siblings Mary Porru, Carmine Donisi, Frank Donisi, Lillian Trovato, and Mafalda Donisi. Ida lived most of her life in Virginia and remained steadfast at the helm of the family corporation and business ventures for years after her husband Joseph passed in 1989. Ida showed her love to friends and family by making sure everyone was well fed and always sharing foods, as she was an excellent cook. She loved family, travel, old movies, music, and dancing. She is survived by six children: Caryn Slattery Walp and husband David, Jean E. Slattery, Debra L. Slattery, Robert E. Slattery, Catherine L. Slattery, and Ginger C. Slattery; seven grandchildren: Nathan D. Walp and wife Lexi, Catherine E. Walp Schoenmann and husband Christopher, Kelly M. Slattery, Lauren A. Kessler, Allison P. Slattery Armstrong and husband Connor, Madison L. Slattery, and Kyleigh C. Kessler; five great grandchildren: Trystan J. Irving, Avery C. Schoenmann, Preston D. Walp, Crew J. Armstrong, Knox G. Grimm, and Raegan J. Schoenmann, plus numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Private services will take place on February 10, 2021. Due to Covid challenges we anticipate immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in memory of Ida L. Slattery.
