George Robert Ashley

George Robert Ashley, 75, of Nokesville, Virginia, passed away on May 4th, 2022. He was born on June 3, 1946 in Alexandria, Virginia to Norman and Ruth Ashley. George had a long career at the Manassas Branch of the United States Postal Service, worked as a DJ for WPRZ in Warrenton, Va., WAVA in Rosslyn, Va., volunteered at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Va., as well as Hospice in Aldie, Va. He was a member of Chapel Springs Church in Bristow, Va. for more than 30 years. His favorite hobbies were gardening, flower arranging, singing, and reading. He was a member of the National Christian Choir for many years. He was a faithful friend to many. George is survived by his wife of (43) years, Mary V. Ashley; Children Robert B. Ashley and Abbey Ashley of Springfield, Missouri, grandchildren, Evie and Jones; ; Heidi A. Potempa and Bill Potempa of Front Royal, Virginia, grandchild Theo; Brother David Ashley and Susan Ashley of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, children David Jr., Michael and Sarah, Parents Ruth and Norman Ashley, deceased. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Chapel Springs Church (11500 New Life Way, Bristow, Virginia) with family to greet friends at 10:00 AM and service at 11:00 AM. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the memorial service. Since George loved Christmas, we will have a Christmas theme.
