Dorothy Lee Slaubaugh

Dorothy Lee Slaubaugh, 86, a resident of Manassas Park, VA of 59 years, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Gainesville Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 1, 1936, in Kempton, MD, to the late George David Blizzard, Sr. & Lillie Sims Blizzard. She was last surviving of the children. Mrs. Slaubaugh, Teacher’s Aide, known as Ms. Dorothy to many of her students and colleagues. She retired from Manassas Park School Systems after 25 years of service. As a beautiful Christian woman & mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, she was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Manassas, VA. She taught Sunday School, worked in the nursery, and with the children. Her love for the Lord shined in her every moment of life. Family meant the world to Mrs. Slaubaugh and she immensely enjoyed the many gatherings for the holidays, especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day (her birthday), Easter & Mothers’ Day. Christmas was her favorite as it was the opportunity to express “Jesus as the reason for the Season”. Every Christmas the Christmas story was read from the Bible and we always sang Happy Birthday Jesus as well as other Christmas songs. She is survived by her children, John David Slaubaugh (Tina). James Albert Slaubaugh, Victoria Mae Cowett (Arthur), Susan Lorene Austin (Allen), Janine Frances Shirley (Bill), Marian Ruth Antunez, Joseph Lawrence Slaubaugh (Paula), Delores Jeanne Roper (Kenneth), Jacob Martin Slaubaugh (Rebecca); Dorothy Ann Junior (Brent), Sharon Louise Simpson (Steven), Jonathan Floyd Slaubaugh (Terre) and Joshua Wilson Slaubaugh (An); and her son-in law John Phillip Gerard (married to late daughter Linda). She also leaves behind 41 grandchildren & 56 great grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband John A. Slaubaugh, daughter Linda Lee Pauline May Gerard, son-in-laws SSgt Norman Paul May & Troy Lee Edwards, daughter-in-law Sherri Lynn Slaubaugh, grandsons Daniel Slaubaugh & Nathaniel Slaubaugh, granddaughter Vicky Lee Austin, great grandson Jerald Phillip Jones, Jr, great granddaughter Jessica Elaine Morgan, Friends will be received at the Pierce Funeral Homes, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110 on Tuesday, April 12, from 7:00pm-9:00pm (family 6:00pm-7:00pm). Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, April 13, at 12:30 pm, with viewing 11:30am-12:30pm. Pastor Kenneth Woods will be officiating. Interment will be at Stonewall Memorial Gardens. Family & friends will gather back at the Pierce Funeral Home Celebration Room immediately following graveside service. Please come back and join us.
