Dolly Frances Rise
May 8, 1936 - February 13, 2021
Dolly Frances Sizemore Rise, a long-time resident of Manassas Virginia, died on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the age of 84. Dolly was born in St Charles, Virginia on May 8, 1936. As the youngest of eight siblings the Sizemore family moved to Cumberland, Kentucky where she spent most of her childhood watching her two eldest brothers go off and return from action in WWII and graduating from Ms. Huff’s Seventh Grade Class of Cumberland Elementary School in 1950. Dolly was and remained proud to be called a coal miner’s daughter! Dolly spent her adult life supporting her husband’s military career taking care of her two sons as the family traveled frequently from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Florida, Virginia and two tours in Germany. Dolly proudly and bravely served America when duty called her husband to service in Vietnam twice, keeping the lights and hopes on here at home. Dolly will be remembered for her wonderful smile, love of shiny jewelry, dressed to kill, and her quick wit often referred to “pistol” personality. Dolly is survived by her two sons, Ronald Bruce of Purcellville, VA and Ben Edwin of Madison, AL and Sister Dorothy of Kentucky. Dolly leaves seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Charles, Frank, Owen, Marcus, Janette, Thelma and parents Clarissa Morris Sizemore and Owen Sizemore of Cumberland, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in her memory, to Saint Jude’s Children Hospital.
