Dr. Allen George Franks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Allen George Franks, 82, of Great Falls, Virginia passed away at his home after a long battle with cancer. Allen was born December 8, 1938 in Oakley, Idaho to George Albert Franks and Merna Nelson Franks. Allen graduated from Oakley High School and went on to Brigham Young University graduating with a degree in Zoology. He continued his education at Georgetown Dental School graduating in 1967. Allen opened a dental practice in McLean, Virginia and served the community for 54 years. He loved the dental profession and the many people he worked with and served. His passions were golfing and skiing. Allen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he believed his most important calling in life was that of a husband, father, grandfather (24), great-grandfather (5) and friend. He will be dearly missed by his wife Karen Hanson Franks, his children , Todd (Vicki), Val (DeeAnn), Melanee Oteo, Tamra Smith (Mark), Taylor (Lindsey), Karson (Brooke), Ashley (Karl) and his sister Sharon Blanthorn (Dale). The family will hold a private graveside service at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, Virginia.
