Albert Burke Penn Jr.

Albert Burke Penn, Jr., age 82, passed on Saturday, June 18th, 2022. He was born on May 5th, 1940 in Alexandria, VA, son of the late Albert Penn, Sr. & Josephine Peverill. Known by most as “Buzz” or “Buzzy”, and for a lucky few, he was called Dad, Granddaddy or Da. After spending 4 years in the Navy, Buzz spent most of his life as a Union Painter. He was resourceful by nature. He always had a project going and was your go to guy for anything needing fixing…from a water heater to a tangled necklace, he could do it all. After retirement, he spent most of his time in the “Situation Room” enjoying puzzles and the company of his wife of 58 years, Nancy. We were blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from Buzz during his 82 years, among them: Naps are important. So is watching Judge Judy at 4pm. Always clap when someone hits the “Daily Double” on Jeopardy. Be Kind but Firm. Be Honest and Loving. Coffee is good any time of day (but it better be Maxwell House). Be a great storyteller. And it is perfectly acceptable to loudly sing “Happy Holidays” while walking through the mall on Christmas Eve. He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children Tom (Kirsten) Penn, Cheryl (Earl) Hoffman and four grandchildren that were the apple of his eye, Taylor and Kendall Penn, Julia Hoffman and Cole Hoffman and grand-dogs, Beamer, Molly and Scout. Following his wishes, there will be no formal service but well-wishers are encouraged to make a contribution in Buzz’s memory to the charity of their choice.
