Wilbur studied Radio, Television, and Film before completing graduate‑level work in the MFA program at Howard University. His early technical training shaped a career grounded in discipline, creativity, and a deep respect for the power of visual storytelling. Wilbur worked as an engineer for ABC News, supporting major assignments like White House coverage. He also served as a contract photographer for National Geographic, producing high-resolution images of aerial and atmospheric phenomena for their publications. His work brought him to national and international audiences through television and documentary appearances, including Uncovering Aliens on the Discovery Channel, My Big Redneck Vacation on CMT, and a BBC/Discovery Channel expedition with Apollo 14 astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell. His parents were the late Thomas Lorenzo Allen, SMSgt (Retired), and Lina Germaine (Lutz) Allen. He is survived by his brother, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas E. Lutz-Allen, USAF (Retired), his daughter-in-law, Denise Allen, his nephews and nieces, Howard Bonds, Mimi Germaine Lee, Thomas Allen Jr. and his wife, Sarah Allen, Danielle L-Y Allen, and his grandnephews and grandnieces, Hannah Lee, Bryce Lee, Thomas Theobold Allen, Lars Allen, and Mark Gisselbrecht Allen.
