Thomas Cormac Campbell

Thomas Cormac Campbell was born on December 9th, 1994 to Thomas and Susan Campbell, and was baptized at All Saints Church. Everyone called him Cormac. Cormac had a beautiful childhood growing up in the suburbs of Manassas, Virginia. He was the sixth of nine children and spent his days roaming the family’s large backyard with his younger brother Henry, messing around with his siblings, and going on family adventures. Cormac attended Holy Family Academy in Manassas for most of grade school. As a kid he played travel soccer and competed in different basketball leagues in the area. He spent much of his childhood and teenage years at Sudley Swim and Tennis Club in Manassas, where he swam on the swim team and made friendships that would last his lifetime. Cormac could find something to love about anyone, and he was beloved by all. Cormac attended Mayfield Intermediate, Metz Middle School, and Osbourn High School. He chose to attend his senior year of high school at Gateway High School in San Francisco where he shared time with his Aunt Sally and Uncle Dan and their four children. Cormac bonded with his uncle over their love for cooking, and he spent countless hours in kitchens around the city, both in California and Manassas. Cormac had an artist’s soul and his abilities did not end with gourmet meals. Cormac was an outstanding artist from an early age, filling up notebooks with sketches and sharpie drawings which illustrated his passion for life and indicated that his heart and his vision could not be satisfied by this world. Cormac designed tattoos for his friends and for himself, many of which displayed his firm faith in God and his love for his family members, both living and dead. His sensitive soul made him vulnerable to much of life’s suffering and we pray that he finds peace. Cormac died suddenly on July 15, 2021. His family and friends will always remember Cormac’s joy, his playful attitude, his mischievous smile, his passion and focus and intentions for life. Cormac’s kept his favorite prayer inked on his arm, his plea to the Heart of Jesus for the last moments of his life: “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, and if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.” In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Medical Missionaries, Inc 9590 Surveyor Court, Manassas, VA 20110 https://www.medicalmissionaries.org/donate-fund/ Cormac was preceded in death by his older brother Ian, his maternal grandmother Ann Brien and paternal grandparents Henry and Maryann Campbell Cormac is survived by his parents Susan and Tom, his siblings Siobhain, Alexandra, Sean, Conor, Henry, Fiona and Cecelia, niece Poppy, brothers in law Merritt and Greg and his grandfather Hugh Brien as well as many aunts, uncles cousins and dear friends.
