Tammie S. Higgs

Tammie Sue Higgs, aged 63 passed away on October 9, at Fair Oaks Hospital, surrounded by family. Tammie was preceded in death by her husband David Higgs, mother Ann Mallam, sister Rebecca Kilby and brother Gary Clem. Tammie is survived by her daughter Sherrie Thrower and grandchildren James, Dakota and Rebecca; sisters Michelle Alex, Sharon Webster, brothers Thomas and Randall Kemp and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Charlestown, West Virginia and grew up in Annandale and Fairfax, Virginia. She later lived in many different places in the US but loved Colorado the most. Tammie was the epitome of a ‘people person’. She loved with her whole heart. She loved to care for others, especially babies and children, but also for all her family and friends. She would do anything for anyone she loved. She loved deeply and gave of herself freely. She would show her love by crocheting blankets. You can bet if you are a friend of Tammie’s you have at least one, if not many crochet blankets in your house! Tammie loved music and her favorites were the Eagles, Toby Keith, and other classic rock and country music. She enjoyed listening to music, crocheting and watching Yellowstone or soap operas. She struggled throughout her life with medical issues such as diabetes, which caused reduced mobility for her. She fought hard to get healthy and had recently made significant strides in being independent and healing. An unfortunate fall led to complications and backward progress in the healing process. Even through the trials and tribulations she remained faithful in her love of God and spent time reading the Bible and praying. She will be deeply missed by all and remembered fondly. We know she is resting comfortably in the arms of our savior and will be our guardian angel continuing to care for us from heaven. A celebration of life will be held on November 16, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, at the American Legion Post 1976, 4206 Daniels Avenue, Annandale, VA 22003.
