Shawn Marqus Ballard

On September 3rd, 1989 Shawn Marcus Ballard was born to Lynnette Flintall and Mike Ballard in Philadelphia. Known to many as “Blaze” which followed him throughout his life, his first true nickname was “zip” given to him at the age of 4 because he was always zipping around the house. Raised in Harlem, New York until the age of 13 he then moved to Virginia where he lived out his life. Shawn was the third of four children. Shawn attended P.S. 83, Liberty Middle School, and Westfields High School. Shawn was a man of many hats and worked numerous jobs from restaurants, car garage, and ultimately a rapping career. He always made a way for himself through any and all circumstances. As a child Shawn attended The Boys Club of New York where he engaged in multiple activities such as swimming, basketball, and pool which followed him into his teenage and adult life. He also enjoyed playing football and AAU baseball. Shawn and the love of his life Danielle Underwood spent many great years together. In this time they had two children together Isaiah and Khloe. Shawn was caring, giving, and great protector especially to those he loved. Shawn was fighter and force to be reckoned with. He was so charismatic and funny. He would crack jokes sometimes to the point where you couldn’t breathe from laughing so hard. Shawn was always the life of the party. During family events or holidays, he always made sure everybody was having a great time. During these great moments you could always fin Shawn playing spades against his aunts, uncles, and cousins. A time was always had. He loved all of New York teams: the Yankees, the Giants, and the NY Knicks. He also was a lover of Jordan sneakers. He was preceded in death by his Uncle John, Aunt Stephanie, and Aunt Darlene. Shawn is survived by his three children: Josiah Ballard (16), Isaiah “Ozzy” Ballard (12), and Khloe Ballard (10), his mother Lynnette Flintall, his three biological siblings Antoine Duquesday, Atiya Hernandez, Nadine Jordan, and Brian “Beedee” who is a cousin but raised as a brother; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
