Robert Lee Moore of Gainesville Virginia, also known and loved as Bob, Uncle Bobby, Candyman, Santa Clause, Mr. Poly grip, Mr. Moore, Daddio, and Bobba, at age 87 has gone to meet with and to live with His Heavenly Father for eternity. What a great family reunion that will be as he hugs and kisses every loved one that has gone before him. He was born on October 15, 1931 in Independence, KS. Son of Glenn and Della Moore, he was surrounded by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and 3 amazing siblings: sisters Twila and Verna and brother Junior During his lifetime he became a Real Estate Broker, studied Accounting, owned and operated 3 Furniture stores in the Northern VA area and he also served in the army for 2 years before meeting his future wife who lived in DeRidder, LA. But of all his accomplishments, one of his favorites was serving his local church as the Head Usher. His highest priority was to make sure that all of the ushers would shake the hands of everyone who entered the church, especially the children, for whom he always kept candy in his pockets. Hence, The Candyman. Married to Grace Gwinnell Hennington for 64 years and the father of three children, daughters Melanie and Robin, and son, Robert Moore, II. He was also the grandfather of eight and the great grandfather of four. What a heritage he has left behind. He was a faithful provider, a man of great faith and honor to his God, and his loved ones. He lived his life with a philosophy…to “work hard, play hard”. He was intelligent, playful, adventurous, an entrepreneur, resourceful, competitive, a creative thinker, daring, helpful to those in need, a problem solver, forgiving and so much “Moore”! His life was filled with so many unique and special stories. He was always way ahead of his time. He actually ran and operated the very first food truck in Arlington, VA, and took it to the inauguration parade of President Kennedy. He also came upon a new invention that he was so impressed by that he ended up buying to test it out. A round robotic disk that would automatically mow his lawn and then park itself back into its own battery station. People would pass by his house and just stop to watch this new fangled machine. He just knew that something about that technology was gonna make it big! Sound familiar? Anyone have a Roomba?! The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Springs Church, 11500 New Life Way, Bristow, VA 20136. He will be very missed but His legacy and his presence will always be in our hearts and souls. Rest in Peace Daddy.
