Regina Ann (Zewe) West Born June 7, 1936 Died September 3, 2019 Regina West continued her journey peacefully, with her children by her side, on September 3rd after an extended battle with various complications associated with stroke and vascular dementia. Rae was, first and foremost, a devoted and loving Mother to her children: Jay Koreny and his wife, Teri; Laura Craig and her husband, Dan; and Jeanne Walker. She was also a proud and doting Grandmother to 6 grandchildren; “Her Gems”: Amanda Craig, Emily Craig, Jeremy Walker, Shane Koreny, Ethan Walker, and Tina West. She was a proud stepmother to Michael West and Dede West. She held close to heart her many nieces and nephews. Rae is survived by her siblings: Rosemary Coughenour and Paul Zewe, and was preceded in death by her Husband Robert West. She also leaves behind her children’s father, George Koreny, and her devoted best friend, Joanne Lanni. A shining light to all who knew her, Rae’s life exemplified the truest meaning of love. She quietly touched those close to her with a gentle and caring spirit, and gave freely of herself to those who were dear to her as well as those who only casually encountered her. Any who she encountered would attest to always being greeted with a radiant smile and sparkling eyes. Mom had a varied and fulfilling work life and enjoyed several careers. Among those she was most proud of were Certified Medical Assistant, working in both hospital and doctor’s office environments in western Pennsylvania, Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police in North Fayette Township in Pennsylvania, and Administrative Assistant in the Anthropology Department at the University of Virginia, among others. Rae was Artistic and creative. She was a skilled artist and loved painting, creating works as varied as portraiture, landscapes, and stills. She loved flowers and gardening, creating magically beautiful places to surround herself and to share with any who would happen by. Throughout her life, Mom never lost her faith. In recent years, she was an active member of Christ Church in Richmond, Virginia, where she was known and loved by many. She participated in several community and social activities there, including volunteering in various community outreach programs and women’s prayer groups. She particularly enjoyed worship music. Among her favorite Hymns were “How Great Thou Art”, “Shine, Jesus, Shine”, and “Above All”. Rae leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, selfless giving, and a warm embrace for all. Her family asks all to join us in celebrating a most beautiful life, and will receive guests on Friday, September 13th, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA 20110, (703)257-6028, to share in remembrance. Her life will also be celebrated with a Religious service on September 14th, 2019 at 2:00pm, at Epiphany Episcopal Church, 3301 Hidden Meadow Dr., Oak Hill, Va, 20171 (Fairfax County Pkwy & Franklin Farm Rd.)
