Phyllis Arlene Wilson (née Clements), 71, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 24, 1953, in Charlottesville, VA, to Charlie Edward Clements, Jr. and Phyllis Laverne (Morris) Clements, Phyllis grew up in a close-knit family filled with love and faith. She graduated from Osbourn High School in 1972 and went on to dedicate over 30 years of service to the Prince William County School Board. Throughout her career, she held various roles across different departments, contributing her skills and dedication to the same organization, and earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues. In 1971, Phyllis married the love of her life, Philip Paul Wilson, Jr., at the young age of 18. Ignoring the naysayers who told her their love wouldn’t last, she chose to follow her heart. Their union became a testament to enduring love, built on faith, commitment, and partnership. Together, they shared 53 beautiful years of marriage, creating a legacy of love and family that will live on for generations. Phyllis was a woman of extraordinary grace, strength, and kindness. She bravely faced cerebral amyloid angiopathy, a rare and incurable disease that causes hemorrhagic strokes in the brain. Despite the challenges this condition brought, Phyllis defied the odds, blessing her family and friends with nearly eight precious years after its onset. Throughout her journey, she remained steadfast in her gratitude, faith, and unwavering love for others. Her resilience and positivity inspired all who knew her, reminding us of the incredible strength of the human spirit and the power of grace. By sharing her story, her family hopes to bring awareness to this little-known condition, which affects so many but is often misunderstood. Phyllis’s life was devoted to her family and her spiritual journey. A longtime member of Woodbine Baptist Church in Manassas, VA, she later joined Grove Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, where she continued to nurture her faith and serve others. She was a caregiver at heart, embodying the virtues of selflessness, humility, and unconditional love. Phyllis always put the needs of others before her own, living as an example of Christ’s love and grace. Her gentle personality, genuine kindness, and unwavering commitment to doing what was right, even when no one was watching, left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who loved unconditionally and fiercely. Phyllis's legacy is one of faith, love, and humility, showing others how to live with grace and joy. Phyllis’s family and friends will forever remember her love, her strength, and the way she made every person feel valued and cared for. She leaves behind a community enriched by her presence and inspired by her example. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Edward Clements, Jr. and Phyllis Laverne (Morris) Clements, as well as her brother, Charlie Edward Clements, III. She is survived by her devoted husband, Philip; her children, Matthew Paul Wilson (Johanna) of Stafford, VA, and Krista Wilson Kirk (Toby) of Glenwood, MD; her siblings, Wanda Mullins (Jerry) of Orange, VA, William Clements (Rhonda) of Mechanicsville, VA, Patricia Inouye (Carl) of Culpeper, VA, Annette Cline (George) of Bealeton, VA, and Debra Martin (David) of Shanks, WV; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Clements, of Orange, VA. Phyllis also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Olivia Wilson, Pierce Wilson, Miles Kirk, Creed Kirk, and Breeze Kirk, along with her beloved "bonus grands," Kimera Tanko and Katherine Navamal, and many cherished friends who were like family. A funeral service to celebrate Phyllis's life will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Pierce Funeral Home, located at 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA 20110. The family will receive visitors beginning at 2:00 p.m., the service will begin at 3:00 p.m., and a repast will follow. Her burial will be private. Flowers can be sent to Pierce Funeral Home for the services. The family requests that flowers be bright and colorful in honor of all that was bright and beautiful about her life.
