Pericles Leonidas Therianos

Our beloved father Pericles Leonidas Therianos passed away on February 19, 2025. He was 94. He was a happy, sweet, loving, strong man. He instilled in us a strong moral compass, the importance of family and a passionate love of our country. His broad, strong shoulders were always available to stand on when we needed them. A true fighter, our father survived a helicopter crash in the jungles of Panama, war in Viet Nam, cancer, and his three strong-minded children. He left us with an understanding that he loved us all very much, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. We have wonderful memories to cherish. Perry, as he was called, was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Greek immigrant parents. His family moved to New York City when he was a small boy, and he grew up in three of the five Burroughs of New York City; The Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn. He graduated from Greek School, Brooklyn Tech High School and City College of New York. Before he graduated college, Perry worked many jobs. Taxi driver, postal clerk, bowling pin stacker, and short order cook in his dad’s Greek diner to name a few. These youthful adventures, as well as his time in the Army, made for many long, detailed, and entertaining stories of his exploits. After graduating College, Perry was commissioned into the United States Army as an Infantry officer and later became a Signal Corp officer. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal served honorably for 23 years. In his second career he was a real estate agent before settling down to a third career as an Account Executive for brokerage houses such as Merrill Lynch, Thompson McKinnon and Davenport LLC. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael, and the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Edith Therianos. We celebrate Perry’s long life knowing that he is in the presence of his Creator. Perry is survived by his three children; Janet Therianos (Jim Wallace), Mark Therianos, (Barbara) and Elaine Onstott (David), five grandchildren Katie Weins (Mark), Jake Therianos, Zeke Onstott, Ella Onstott and Eli Onstott, and three great grandchildren, Paxton, Holden and Sutton Weins. He was a happy man who made others happy with his presence. Perry leaves a legacy of love of God, family and country. Perry will be honored with full military honors and burial at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date.
