Patricia Lyn James

Patricia Lyn Earley James, 74, of Manassas, VA, passed away peacefully, July 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born August 13, 1948, in Childress, TX to Clifton Earley and Stella Guess, Patricia (Pat) was the middle child of 5 and spent her childhood and school years in Ft. Worth, TX. She graduated in 1966 from Trimble Technical High School in Ft. Worth. Post graduation, Pat enlisted in the United States Navy where she served three years and achieved the rank of Yeoman 3rd Class prior to being honorably discharged in March 1969. It was during her time in the US Navy that she met and married William C. James. While stationed in Corpus Christi, TX, William (Bill) and Pat served and worked together and ultimately fell in love. They married December 21, 1968, in South Padre Island and spent 55 years together, raising their family and creating a lifetime of memories. Pat enjoyed many years as a homeworker and was actively involved in all aspects of her children’s lives. From Brownie troop leader to timing races at swim meets to sewing dresses for piano recitals and being the loudest cheerleader during track meets, basketball games and many soccer games; there was nothing Pat didn’t do to enhance and champion her children and their aspirations. Later in her life, she started a career in retail management and spent several years leading successful teams and numerous Linens N Things stores in the Manassas and Fairfax area. She made several friends that became lifelong connections and thanks to social media, they were able to share jokes and laughs as their lives moved in different directions. Once retired, Pat spent her time gardening in her yard, sewing and needlepoint and doting on her five grandchildren. She also provided constant care and companionship to Bill. Whether it was family trips to Disney World, beach trips to Ocean City, family reunions in Texas and Port Charlotte, FL - they were an unstoppable team. Pat is survived by her husband, Bill James (Manassas, VA) and her three children; Pamela James Mulligan (Midlothian, VA) Cristen James English (Richmond, VA) Susan James Lucci (Round Hill, VA) her son-in-law, Steve Mulligan (Midlothian, VA) her five grandchildren; Peyton Mulligan (Glen Allen, VA) Ellie Mulligan (Midlothian, VA) Amelia Lucci (Round Hill, VA) Calla Lucci (Round Hill, VA) Finley English (Richmond, VA) and her sister; Wanda Reyna (Houston, TX). Pat will be buried with military honors in Qauntico National Ceremony. A graveside ceremony will take place August 2, 2023 at 10:30am.
