Nancy Jean Sturdivant

Nancy Norman Sturdivant April 5, 1948-April 29, 2023 After a brief but hard-fought health battle, Nancy was called home on Saturday April 29, 2023. Her family was by her side as she departed peacefully. She was preceded in death by her parents Eugenia Spencer Norman and Kenneth Charles Norman of Port Jervis, New York. She also recently lost her sister Frances, of Wisconsin. Greeting her at the Rainbow Bridge was her beloved Fritz, Finn, Frosty and DJ, as well as numerous grand-pups and grand-kitties. If you knew Nancy, you knew she loved animals, and they loved her. Nancy’s most important role was as a military wife and mother. She raised her family with her husband Joseph (Joe) Sturdivant Sr, who was career Army. They moved many times and lived all over the world. Nancy diligently raised her children including a set of triplets and supported her husband no matter what far flung destination they were stationed at (Germany to Hawaii and many places in between). When the family made its final move to the Virginia area in the late 1980’s, Joe retired from the Army after 23 and a half years. As he began his second career as a government contractor, she also began a new career, she worked for the Fauquier National Bank and remained with them for many years until her retirement. She made many, many close friends during her years there. Nancy was a member of the Manassas Baptist Church in Manassas, VA. Nancy was feisty and extremely loyal, if she loved you, it was with all she had. She was very much the glue that held the family together, no matter the distance. She never hesitated to let her feelings be known. We are forced to continue life without her, but she will always live in our hearts. Left to figure out how to navigate the world without her, is her wonderful, loving husband of 47 years, Joe Sturdivant, Sr. He took wonderful care of and advocated for her without hesitation. Her children Renee (Jim) Paz of Manassas, VA, Jennifer (Tim) Ware of Nokesville, VA, Joseph (Beth) Sturdivant Jr of Warrenton, VA, Kenneth (Heather) Sturdivant of Marshall, VA, and Brian (Christine) Sturdivant of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Hawaii. Nancy loved her grandchildren more than life itself. Reilly Paz, Kyle Blevins, Ashley Blevins, Dalton Paz, Alex Sturdivant, Jason Sturdivant, Danny Sturdivant, Lucas Chatterton, Aiden Sturdivant, and Violet Sturdivant. Thanks to this wonderful woman the world is a better place, and thanks to her dedication her legacy lives on with her children and grandchildren. LWKUTA KTF
