Nancy Sours

NANCY LaRENE SOURS, age 64 of Catlett,VA passed away at her home on Saturday, February 5, 2005. Nancy Sours was born on May 14, 1940 in Bloomsburg, PA to Richard Lang and Rene Lang and settled in the Northern Virginia area in the mid 1940's. After graduating high school, she worked for the CIA. She married Burton Sours in 1960. Their marriage lasted 44 years and produced 4 children. While her children were young, she drove a school bus for All Saints School for 7 years. As her children got older, she obtained a job as library secretary with Stonewall Jackson High School for 4 years and transferred to Osborne City High School where she worked for 26 years. She retired in 2003 after a total of 30 years with the school system. Nancy enjoyed her life and loved her family greatly. She was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her interests and hobbies included dancing, sewing, playing cards, crafts, ceramics, gardening, flea markets, bingo, scrabble and traveling. After her retirement, she served as a volunteer at the Fauquier Hospital Gift Shop until she was diagnosed with cancer and began chemotherapy treatment in August 2004. She was a member of the Bunko Club of Manassas, VA. She attended All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas, VA and St. John's Church in Warrenton, VA and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her Father, Richard Lang. Nancy was the beloved wife of Burton O. Sours, Jr.; devoted mother of Cheri Lynn Compton of Rixeyville, VA, Kathryn Sours Payne of Amissville, VA, Christine Marie McGrane of Bristow, VA and Samuel Burton Sours of Erie, CO; loving mother-in-law of Joseph M. Compton, John B. Payne, Jr., Thomas M. McGrane, and Darlene L. Sours. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Melissa and Jennifer Compton of Rixeyville, VA, Mandy Wines of Bristow, VA, John and Zach Payne of Amissville, VA, and Maegan and Evan Sours of Erie, CO, 4 step-grandchildren: Adrianne Gaudreau of Fairfax, VA, Joseph, Kristin, and Matthew McGrane of Placentia, CA, loving mother-in-law Mattie Pauline Sours of Warrenton, VA, mother Rene Bingle of Wilmington, NC, sisters Pat Conlon of Wilmington, NC, Mary Sloper of Lakeland, FL, Theresa Merion of Reno, NV and brother Rich Lang of Lilburn, GA, brothers-in-law Andrew Conlon of Wilmington, NC, Eddie Sloper of Lakeland, FL, Geno Merion of Reno, NV and sister-in-law Dianne Lang of Lilburn, GA. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M., Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 12:30 P.M., Friday, February 11 at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas with Rev. Stephen Holmes officiating. Interment will be private.
