Meagan Leigh Hale Radcliffe

On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, Meagan Leigh Hale Radcliffe, loving daughter, friend, wife, and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 35. Meagan was born on January 14, 1985 in Virginia Beach, VA to Christopher and Sandra Hale. She has one younger sister, Lauren Elizabeth Hale. She graduated from Green Run High School, earned a B.S. in Psychology from Radford University, her M.A. in Urban Education from Norfolk State University, and completed the Community Agency Counseling Program at George Mason University to becoming a licensed professional counselor and mental health provider in the state of Virginia. On October 25, 2014, she married Joseph S. Radcliffe. They raised two daughters, Aubree Elizabeth and Everleigh Hale. Being an exceptional mother and wife was her first calling, but outside of her family, Meagan had a passion for advocacy and volunteering: Even though her career provided a crucial service to the community, Meagan volunteered her time to many charities and programs . Over the past 6 years she put forth effort to raise $30k for over 500 families and helped facilitate 33-week mentoring program, which assists more than 60 kids in the Woodbridge location. She also worked with others to coordinated countless donations to the Be A Blessing Foundation, and collected donations for money gift cards which she personally distributed to local families. After delivering her first born in the NICU at Fair Oaks Hospital, she began assisting with events for the March of Dimes and collected donations for the families of children at the NICU. Meagan was the parent representative for the hospital’s committee. Because she believed in the power of breastfeeding, Meagan reached out to new mothers to offer words of encouragement regarding the reality of how difficult breastfeeding can be, and she made several breastmilk donations to mothers in need. One of her main goals as a mother was to be a promoter of living a healthy and clean lifestyle, and she often spoke out in regards to her use of essential oils, essential vitamins, and regular exercise and diet. Also, because she was involved in a small business, she made it a point to shop small businesses for all her special occasions. Meagan truly believed in the importance of community. Meagan’s work did not stop with being a mental health worker and mother. She was also very passionate about her heritage. Meagan was especially close to her Memaw (grandmother), Zadi Gannaway, and after learning more about Gannaway’s story at the 100 year commemoration ceremonies of the Armenian Genocide in D.C., Meagan worked hard to bring awareness to the Near East Foundation which promotes building stronger communities in the Middle East and Africa. Aside from all of her accomplishments, Meagan knew the importance of self-care and made sure that she indulged in her favorite activities such as: professional massages, manicures, pedicures, lattes, food, and Virginia Tech Hokies! Most people associate Meagan with large hoodies, the Fall season, scented candles, and loud opinions. She wasn’t yelling! She just needed to make sure you could hear her. Meagan is survived by her parents Christopher and Sandy, her husband Joseph, her two children Aubree and Eveleigh, her sister Lauren Elizabeth, and several cousins, nieces, and one goddaughter Nabrya Teresa Parker. We invite her friends and loved ones to join her family in celebrating her life on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 1 till 5 PM at The Water's Edge, Claytor Lake State Park, 6620 Ben H. Bolen Dr. Dublin, VA 24084. We'll share our favorite stories and to show that as long as we remember her, a piece of her will always be with us.
