Mary Gladys Ryder

Mary Gladys Ryder, age 89, went to Heaven peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2020 at home, surrounded by family and dear friends that are considered family. She is now reunited with the love of her life. She was beautiful inside and out, and always put other's needs first before her own. Mary was loved by all who knew her, and as several of friends have said, she was truly one of the most genuine, kind, sweet, graceful, giving human beings that God ever created. She was born on May 9, 1931 in Madison County to the late Willie Johnson Haynes and Edith Mae Knighting Haynes. Mrs. Ryder was predeceased by her loving husband Cecil Weston Ryder, her parents, brothers Thomas Haynes, Charles Haynes, Howard Haynes, Leroy Haynes and Jackie Haynes; and sisters Margaret Cromer, Bessie Finnerin and Elva Jenkins. She is survived by her three children, son Donald Cecil Ryder and wife Katherine of Manassas, VA; daughter Mary Melissa Ryder Tidwell and husband James of Culpeper, VA; son Kenneth Weston Ryder and wife Sharree of Centreville, VA; six grandchildren Ben Ryder, Brad Ryder and wife Michelle, Eric Tidwell and wife Michelle, Daniel Tidwell, Michael Barnes and wife Rachel, Amanda Williamson and husband Brian; four great-grandchildren, Reagan Barnes, Weston Williamson, Wyatt Williamson, Sienna Williamson. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Bennett of Culpeper, VA. She loved decorating her home for all the holidays throughout the years, and made sure that Christmas was always very special for her family. She insisted on special family birthday celebrations every year. Everyone loved coming to her house. She loved reading, cooking, baking, her flower garden, her bowling team and she will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know her. She also especially loved her great grand doggie, Cosmo, who stayed by her side when she wasn't feeling well. A small graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Stonewall Memory Gardens. A Celebration of her Life will be held at at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1200 Sunset Ln. #2320, Culpeper, VA 22701, in Mary's name.
