Mark T. McGarry

Mark T. McGarry, from Fairfax, Virginia, born on November 6, 1957, in Frankfurt, Germany, passed away suddenly on June 2, 2024. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. Mark was the beloved son of Joseph and Marcella McGarry. He is survived by his cherished wife, Robin McGarry, and their children, Cristi Aguirre (Juan) and Jason McGarry. Mark was a proud and loving grandfather to Alyssa, Alexandra, and Marley. He is also survived by his dear sisters, Marcella Murphy (Paul) and Kathleen Herbert (Bev), as well as several nieces and nephews. Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marcella McGarry, and his brother, Joseph McGarry. Mark had a gift for leaving a lasting impression on anyone he met. His love for nature, strong work ethic, and determination led him to an entrepreneurial path where he built a successful landscaping and snow removal business. His warmth, kindness, and sense of humor made him a treasured friend to many. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Mark shared countless precious memories with his grandchildren in Beaufort, South Carolina, where he loved spending summers. He enjoyed taking them to Hunting Island, known as "Jungle Beach," creating lasting memories filled with laughter. He also loved riding his scooter alongside his grandson Marley, sharing lots of giggles along the way. Mark enjoyed participating in The Rolling Thunder motorcycle ride each year with his granddaughter, Alexandra, proudly displaying his patriotism until he was no longer able to due to his battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). Despite the challenges posed by MS, Mark's determination and spirit never wavered. Mark had a deep love for his Labrador Retrievers, who were his loyal companions and brought immense joy to his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was playing fetch, taking long walks, or simply enjoying their company. His Labradors were family, providing him with unwavering love and companionship through all of life's ups and downs. This love was shared with his granddaughter, Alyssa, who helped find his first Labrador. In his free time, Mark could be found playing golf, riding his wave runner, or captaining his boat. In honoring Mark's life, we celebrate his dedication to his family, his joy in spending time with his grandchildren, and his unwavering spirit in the face of adversity. His memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who loved him. A memorial service will be held on June 11, 2024, at Pierce Funeral Home in Manassas, Virginia. A reception will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the MS Society or any local Labrador Retriever Rescue Group.
