Marianne Hallett

Marianne Hallett passed away peacefully Wednesday June 3rd, 2026, at age 88. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Martin Edwin Richard and Frances Rose Pease. With her first husband, John, she began her life’s whirlwind journey as a military spouse with postings at various locations on the East Coast as well as Canada and Japan. While raising her sons, she spent her free time volunteering for military support organizations such as Navy Relief, the USO, the Red Cross, and working as a substitute teacher. As her sons matured, she returned to school, earning her college degree and later a master’s degree from George Washington University. She worked in the private sector, had her own practice, and later retired from Fairfax County Government. She expanded her family with her second marriage to Ed, adding four more children, two sons and two daughters, fulfilling her long-held wish for a daughter and completing the family she treasured. In retirement, Marianne and Ed enjoyed their passions of traveling across the country, spending time with their cherished family and friends and taking numerous cruises to destinations around the world. Amid all of this, as a staunch patriot, she found time and energy to dedicate to supporting and volunteering with the Freedom Museum in Manassas, VA, promoting the history and great achievements of our military members and families. She is survived by her children Michael Schaier (Deborah), Donald Schaier (Lisa), Christopher Schaier (Lori), Scott Hallett (Debra), Pamela Hallett Gaither (John), Kirk Hallett (Denise), Cynthia Hallett Cannon (Michael), 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Reveley Hallett, her former husband John Donald Schaier, her brother Richard Edwin Pease, her son John Martin Schaier, her grandsons Nathan James Hallett and Keith Caton Treichel, and her beloved cousin and lifelong “sister,” Constance “Coni” McCrea. Family and friends will gather for a remembrance and celebration of life at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110, on Tuesday, June 16th from 6PM – 8PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Rd, Manassas, VA 20110 on, Wednesday June 17th at 10 AM.
